GUIDELINES
  1. Attendance numbers must be accurately confirmed by registration into a logbook Download the logbook file.
  2. The two overall independent witnesses must confirm the exact and final figure of total participants in their statements.
  3. Sufficient stewards must be involved to ratify that all the contestants fully participate in the attempt.
  4. There must be a start and finish signal loud enough for all participants to hear.
  5. The anthem must be sung the whole way through. Download the Hatikva anthem lyrics
  6. Any participants who do not sing the whole way through must be disqualified from the final total.

Authentication

Witnesses
Two independent witnesses need to be chosen to attend and confirm the details of the event. The two witnesses must not normally be associated with the record participants and need to be of a prominent position in the community such as Public notaries, Justices of the Peace, police officers, judges, doctors, ordained ministers of religion, newspaper editors, etc.

Witnesses Statement Content
The two witnesses need to prepare a statement that is to include full contact information (name, address, telephone number and/or email address, Job position and occupation) that should be on headed notepaper, where possible. Each statement must be compiled by the witnesses themselves, and must be signed in their own hand

The statements should confirm that the specific rules have been followed.

Volunteers must be involved to ratify that all the contestants fully participate in the attempt; they should be placed in such a way that every part of the record attempt area is visible to the officials.

Filming instructions
It is imperative that the record will be supported by quality photographs and videos. We recommend you obtain the services of a professional or expert photographer to document your local record attempt. We do not pay for such images, but will credit the photographer.

Get in close and keep it simple
Film the event in an angle that will enable the Guinness researchers to make a judgment on whether or not the record has been broken. Make sure that photographs are in focus and well lit.

Format
We require all video footage to be submitted on preferably DVD, DV or Mini DV.

Photographs
Photographs may be submitted in digital format on CD-ROM or DVD (taken at 300 dpi in a 15 cm x 15 cm size. Printouts of digital images are only acceptable if the photograph is also provided in digital format.

Note that photographs are a compulsory evidence requirement for all record attempts.

Clearly mark all documentation and photographs with your name and address, stating which record has been attempted.

On the Day of the event
Install a registration stand in the immediate proximity of the event's occurrence. Volunteers will register all those who wish to participate onto the Guinness logbook list (attached) and give out a T-shirt/ pin/ sticker that will part those who have already registered and those who have not.

It would also be advised to ask people to arrive an hour ahead of time for sufficient registration time.

Once you have finished your record attempt, please send all the information as requested. Please include all items bellow:

  1. A cover letter by the person who is ultimately responsible for organizing the attempt in your area
  2. Two witness statements
  3. Statements of the person who produced any of the materials (Photographs/ video) Download the form
